The second type of translation is a translation interlanguage. This type of translation is a translation in the real sense. In this type, the translator to rewrite the meaning or the idea of the source language text into the target language text.
The latter is a kind of translation intersemiotik. This type includes the interpretation of a text into a form or another sign system. For example, the interpretation of the novel into a movie masterpiece.

Advantages and Disadvantages Machine Translation

1. Advantages and Disadvantages Trados

Advantages

The advantages are that the translation is done faster helping understanding the content of original text.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages are unknown sharing of the information and accuracy of translated material (text) depending on word ordering of original text.

Used to work

2. Advantages and Disadvantages Wordbee

Advantages

Collaborative translation shortens the translation cycle, improving delivery times by 50% or better.

Quick implementation means that changing platforms isn’t what it used to be. Wordbee is the most powerful solution on the market, and no barrier prevents you from using it.

Wordbee automates document and translation setups, improving the initial management phase.

Wordbee helps you manage your internal and external suppliers, keep track of their specialty domains, and keep records about performance.

Disadvantages

I used Wordbee once for a project on request of a customer and it was a disappointment for me. So I will not use it again.

Wordbee (cloud based only, so one needs to use one’s browser) is very simple to learn, due to it being rudimentary and thus not having all the features of a local PC CAT tool.

First the spell checker for QA turned out be buggy, not finding all errors and especiailly not finding accidentally entered ‘second letter’ caps.

Secondly, I could not upload my own TM and/or glossary to speed up my work. This is especially important with specialized translations where agencies are rarely able to provide an online TM or glossary that will be of help nor should they be expected to.

Thirdly, just from a production speed point of view (I timed this) using a browser (like one is forced to with a cloud only based tool like this) is very slow as compared to a PC based tool, slowing one down by 20-30%. So using Wordbee one has either adapt one’s rates or not get paid enough per hour. It may be different if one has a commercial high speed T-line connection, but most of us do not have that.

Fourth, for someone with diminished eye sight, Wordbee is almost unusable, since it works at a low resolution and vague colors inside the browser and also has too small fonts. A PC based tool will provide a much sharper interface all the time.

Fifth, when I provided my customer with a translated TM (after downloading the source from Wordbee to try work offline with my own PC based tool) the import was buggy. Wordbee failed to properly import all translations. It only did a partial import for no apparent reasons. That import had to be done by the translation agency, since, as a translator, there was no functionality available for me to import it myself. In the end the agency had to manually input (cut and paste!) my work.

Cloud-based Wordbee seems adequate as a tool for translation agency PMs to manage projects online in a quick and simple way, but it is not adequate as a CAT tool to fit all the needs of a translator. Unfortunately there is no PC based version of Wordbee to at least try to fill the missing requirements like other cloud based tools have made sure to provide.

4. Advantages and Disadvantages SDL

Advantages

With over two decades of expertise, unequaled technology and coverage for over 200 languages, SDL helps you connect with customers in their native language and forge genuine brand experiences.

The industry’s first context engine ensures relevance is baked into every touchpoint throughout the buyer-to-advocate journey.

SDL provides the only global-ready customer engagement solution that creates a frictionless experience across marketing, sales and service.

SDL makes it easy to support—and unify—the multiple brands, websites, and languages you need to outperform competitors worldwide.

Disadvantages

No official support from SDL Tridion – This is typically the points to discuss as what is not supported. DD4T in its entirety is not supported but even the out of the box Tridion templating is only supported for its integration and as a entity – Anything you write using even Tridion templates is not supported.

Not proven with Big Enterprise level website yet without performance hit – Partially true, and few big implementations are on the card. But just consider the fact that even http://www.sdl.com (SDL’s official site) uses DD4T behind the scene.

With DD4T, the SDL Tridion will be treated only for managing the content and various website development capabilities of SDL Tridion will be shed down. The website changes can not be easily deployed by simply publishing from Tridion.

Minor website changes that could be taken care directly from CMS may require changes to be done in DD4T based code and may required to get deployed through the DTAP environment.

5. Advantages and Disadvantages Systran

Advantages

SYSTRAN’s hybrid machine translation engine combines the strengths of rule-based and statistical machine translation, thus merging the predictability and language consistency of rule-based MT with the fluency and flexibility of statistical MT to reach customer quality requirements.

SYSTRAN MT solutions are being used throughout the enterprise to improve multilingual communication both internally and externally and generate savings or new revenue opportunities.

Disadvantages

A disadvantage that needs mentioning is the requirement for a stable Internet connection on the user’s mobile device. Since the SMS method of communicating with the translation server has proved less efficient that sending packets of data-because of the message length limit (160 characters) and the higher cost of SMS as compared with Internet traffic charges-Internet connectivity on mobile devices is a must, while coverage in some non-urban areas is still unstable.

Christina Perri Closes 11th Java Jazz Festival

Performances by two young international pop stars Christina Perri and Jessie J closed the 11th Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival (JJF) on Sunday.
Singer-songwriter Perri performed to a full house at the biggest hall of JIExpo in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
Clad in a white shirt and black shorts, Perri’s appearance on stage was met with loud applause and cheering from the crowd.

Perri opened the show with “Shot me in the Heart”, which was taken from her second album, Head or Heart.
“How are you doing Jakarta? Apa Kabar?” she greeted the crowd.
Perri continued her performance with “Run”, “Distance”, “Burning Gold”, “Arms”, “Lonely Child”, “One Night”, Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars”, Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and, of course, “Jar of Hearts”, a song that brought her into the limelight.
When the intro of “A Thousand Years” played, screams resounded throughout the hall, as predicted, and the crowd immediately put up their phones to record her performance.
From the beginning to the end of the song, the audience sang along under the direction of Perri.
Throughout the show, she was very communicative, frequently greeting the crowd, asking them to dance and sing with her, giving brief explanations of the songs that she mostly writes herself.
Apart from singing, she also showed her virtuosity by playing tambourine, guitar and piano.
“Tonight all of you are part of my dream. Thank you,” Perri said.
Also performing on Sunday was Japan’s Blue Note Tokyo All-Star Jazz Orchestra.
Under the direction of Hawaiian-born Eric Miyashiro, the orchestra immediately grabbed the audience’s attention with its first piece.
“Hello Jakarta. Welcome to the 2015 Java Jazz Festival! We are delighted to be here, please sit back and enjoy our show,” Miyashiro said.
Some were nodding their heads, patting their hips with hands and swaying side to side in their seats to the jazzy tunes.

Apart from creating soulful compositions as an ensemble, each band member took center stage to show their individual skills in mini solo performances.

Blue Note Tokyo was established in 1988 by Miyashiro, and premiered its world debut at the famed Montreux Jazz Festival in 2014.

The JJF also featured local pop-jazz talent Lea Simanjuntak with the Timeless Jazz project.

“Are you excited? I am! You can sit, or you can dance with me,” she said.

In “Everybody Says Don’t” by Barbra Streisand, Lea showcased the upper range of her singing skills, generating applause from the crowd.

Accompanied by Rabukustik Big Band, Lea also covered lots of famous songs from different eras, such as “Don’t Rain on My Parade” by Barbra Streisand, “This Will Be an Everlasting Love” by Natalie Cole and Liza Minelli’s “New York, New York”.

Thousands of festival-goers were grooving and jamming with over 100 local and international acts that performed on 16 stages over the course of the three-day event.

The 2005 Indonesian Idol winner Mike Mohede said apart from performing and watching his favorite musicians, JJF was also time to enrich his musical vocabulary.

“My experience with jazz is very limited, and through this event I can meet many great jazz talents whom I can learn about music from,” he said.

#KoinUntukAustralia to be handed to Oz embassy Monday

Four million rupiah (US$ 308) worth of coins collected during the satirical #KoinUntukAustralia (Coins for Australia) donation campaign will be delivered to the Australian Embassy in Jakarta on Monday.

Prime Minister Tony Abott, the primary target of this campaign, drew the ire of the Indonesian public after he made remarks suggesting that Indonesia was showing a degree of ungratefulness by not pardoning two Australian nationals currently awaiting execution for drug charges even though the Australian government donated a great deal of money following the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

Abbot’s remarks sparked a campaign, hashtagged on twitter as #koinuntukaustralia, #koinuntukabbott and #coinsforsuatralia, through which Indonesians gave back the aid money that they received from Australia in the form of coins, perhaps a critique on Abbot’s stingy and petty remarks. The campaign spread all the way to Aceh, where the 2004 tsunami hit the hardest.

“Monday at 9 a.m., we will hand in all the coins collected from this campaign to the Australian Embassy. Sunday will be the final day for people to donate their coins,” Pro Indonesia Coalition (KPI)’s action coordinator Rahmat Himran said on Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.

There are reportedly three bags full of coins, some of which came from Aceh. Rahmat added that they are still awaiting on coins delivered from other regions.

The two Australian nationals, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, are currently at Nusakambangan prison island in Central Java awaiting execution after losing their clemency bid. (dyl)

(dyl)

Death Penalty Doesn’t Violate Human Rights: Religious Affairs Minister –

Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakin Saifuddin has said that capital punishment does not violate human rights.

“Indonesia adopts a human rights policy that can be restricted by law and is aimed at protecting and respecting the rights of others,” Lukman said in Kendari, southeast Sulawesi, on Saturday.

In Indonesia, he said, the death penalty was handed down to drug and graft convicts on account of the destructive effects of the crimes committed. “By sentencing drugs convicts to death [Indonesia] protects the human rights of others,” the minister said as quoted by Antara news agency.

Indonesia is scheduled to execute eleven death-row convicts despite global outcry, following the execution of an Indonesian and five foreign nationals on Jan. 18 for their involvement in drug trafficking. (+++++)

Hukuman Mati Tidak Melanggar HAM: Menteri Agama –

1950’s Hourglass Chic Feted at Paris Fashion Museum

PARIS (Reuters) – When Christian Dior introduced his debut haute couture collection in February 1947, the meters of fabric spilling over the models’ hips in swirls of fine wool, silk and tulle were nothing short of a fashion revolution.

His emblematic creations ushered in “the most luxurious and radiant” decade in women’s fashion, according to Olivier Saillard, director of the Palais Galliera fashion museum, which presents “The 50s – Fashion in France, 1947-1957” beginning on Saturday in Paris.

Drawing on the museum’s extensive archive of garments and accessories, the exposition stars not only Dior but also such greats as Balenciaga, Pierre Balmain and Hubert de Givenchy. Along with them are less familiar though no less important names like Jacques Fath and Jacques Heim.

“This was haute couture’s golden age, when Paris regained its title of world fashion capital,” said Saillard, who on Wednesday night – during haute couture fashion week in Paris – gathered the couturiers of today for a gala dinner and advance peek at the show.

Dresses for cocktail hours, balls, lazy summer afternoons – even gloves, hats, brassieres and swimsuits – all make an elegant appearance under the ornate ceiling of the Palais Galliera, a 19th century mansion originally built to house the art collection of a duchess but which since 1977 has been the city’s fashion museum.

Reams of fabric and expert structure are visible in Dior’s white and black day suit that opens the show, in which interior boning and padding create the corseted and shapely silhouette.

An exquisite Carven day suit in beige wool features a bodice of horsehair braiding that emphasizes the cinched look.

Delightful are the full embroidered wool felt skirts in electric fuchsia, blue and purple by the Boutique of Jeanne Lanvin-Castillo – a chic precursor to the poodle skirt of 1950s Americana.

The enigmatic Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga, who set up shop in Paris in 1937, features prominently, his sober designs from the early part of the decade morphing into a fuchsia taffeta “Baby Doll” dress from 1958, a radical look that foreshadows the simpler looks of the following ten years.

One of the most breath-taking looks is by a designer more renowned for her elegant draping designs in the 1930s and ’40s.

Madame Gres found herself overshadowed in the era of Dior’s “New Look” with its focus on volume, but a silk velvet evening gown in hues of beige and wild rose draping down the hip through a series of delicate pleats is equal to any of its fuller-skirted rivals.

One of those is a Pierre Balmain stunner worthy of the most sumptuous of balls, its bustier and full skirt embroidered with gold metal thread and red silk roses in an ultra-feminine nod to the 18th century.

The Palais Galliera has also liberated from its closet one of its most precious items – a 1952 silk gown worn and donated by Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor.

The pale blue grey silk of the “Palmyre” cocktail dress is decorated with sequins, crystals and embroidered with twisting vines and flowers.

Saillard said he hopes young creators will see the show and take inspiration from the 1950s, as designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Dior’s former creative director John Galliano did after the era was all but forgotten in the ’60s and ’70.

“You usually need 20 years to appreciate an earlier era,” Saillard said. “It’s never the women who wore ’50s fashion who wants to wear it again – it’s their grand-daughters.”

The exhibit runs through Nov. 2.

Real Ghost Stories From Indonesia
Ghost Story In Bali-Ubud
I moved to Bali Island, the Island of Gods, just about two months ago.
If you have ever read my other stories, you’d know that I lived in China until recently. Last July I graduated, and the company had difficulties giving working visa for a new graduate like me due to new regulations, etc (China is making life exceedingly difficult for us foreigners). I was forced to go back home.
So I choose Bali. I have always been fascinated by spiritual things and stories, and Bali, well, you know, is a very spiritual island. Balinese people always say that every inch of land in this island is a sacred land, and every feet of the land has spirits. That is very true.
In the middle of July I arrived at Ubud. A small, very spiritual city in the middle of Bali where every house provided small offerings everyday, Hindu ceremony happened almost everyday, and there were still many small roads without lights and houses located between forestry and shrubberies.
My boarding house was located on a small lane. It had two or three several houses near, but in front of and on the left side of the boarding house was either paddy field, thick shrubberies, or untouched forest. No lamplights to light the road at nights, and in the middle of the night, you could hear crickets and sometimes, the nearby cocks screamed cock-a-doodle-do aloud. People said when cocks sounded in the middle of the night instead of at sunrise, they told you spirits were near.
No need to mention I didn’t have the courage to venture out after sunset.
One particular night, I was lying on my bed, calling my close friend who lived in Kuta, near the famous Kuta Beach, and he tried to persuade me to move to Kuta or somewhere around Denpasar, not cooped up alone in the middle of a forest.
All of a sudden, the cocks nearby started screaming, one after another, and even the dogs were howling like wolves. It was a night of full moon (remember the middle of July?), but I wasn’t really that scared because I was on the phone. Note that my room had very modest furniture, only a bed and a standing fan. No drawers, cabinet, TV, not even an air conditioner. No place to hide.
I started freaking out when the only light in my room went off. There was a small bathroom in the corner of my room, and I could see the light from inside, indicating the bathroom’s door was opened, except that I was a hundred percent sure I closed the door before. I always did that before lying on the bed since I was afraid, you know, that if the door was opened something might creep out of the bathroom.
Now the door was opened and the light was on. If it was electricity problem, shouldn’t the whole house be dark? I just changed the light in my room to a new white lamp (bought two days before) since the original lamp was yellow and dim. No way it could broke so quickly.
I told my friend the condition and very sure he could hear the freaking out tone in my voice, but he still tried to soothe me, telling me to try clicking on the light switch. I did that in a panic — couldn’t think anymore and just do whatever I was told — and the light was on again. My friend said, “See? It ain’t a ghost.”
He didn’t soothe me one bit because the lights turned on when I clicked the switch — meaning something clicked it off while I was lying on my bed, not seeing anything. I clicked the switch several times and it worked normally.
So who turned the light off without me seeing it?

Lyrics
Coldplay-A Sky Full Of Stars
‘Cause you’re a sky, cause you’re a sky full of stars
I’m gonna give you my heart
‘Cause you’re a sky, cause you’re a sky full of stars
‘Cause you light up the path
I don’t care, go on and tear me apart
I don’t care if you do
‘Cause in a sky, cause in a sky full of stars
I think I saw you
‘Cause you’re a sky, cause you’re a sky full of stars
I want to die in your arms, arms
‘Cause you get lighter the more it gets dark
I’m going to give you my heart
And I don’t care, go on and tear me apart
And I don’t care if you do
‘Cause in a sky, cause in a sky full of stars
I think I see you
I think I see you
Because you’re a sky, you’re a sky full of stars
Such a heavenly view
You’re such a heavenly view
